Tree Ornaments – Star
In today’s blog we are going to create a Star to sit atop the tree. It is a fairly big star at 20cm across.
To model the Star we will be using circular sketch pattern. First, I sketched one point.
Drawing a centerline and 2 angled lines down from the tip. I am not concerned about length as I will dimension after having a completed shape.
To fix the lines I added a symmetry relation between end points and a 36 degree angle between the lines.
I then used circular sketch pattern to create the 5 points of the star.
I Cleaned up the sketch by trimming away what isn’t needed and add in relations and construction geometry to fully define the sketch.
Now offset the edges to create 3 areas we can extrude with a gap in between.
Extrude this 4mm across and add some fillets.
For the star to be usable we need to add a sleeve for the top of tree, I did this using a simple sketch and a thin revolve.
Then attach a gold appearance to finish off the design.
