12 Blogs of Christmas – Snowman
The search for the perfect Snowman led us to the Industrial Engineer journal where a class from Bluefield state college sets out the ideal snowman.
We will just be focusing on the dimensions of the 3 snow balls making up the body. Which are 3ft, 2ft and 1ft.
I created 3 arcs with these dimensions and placed them so they would overlap.
I next used Rotate Boss to create the 3D model.
Add some fillets to smooth the transition between the body parts.
The eye is just a circle extruded using the offset from surface finish.
Which is then mirrored.
Our Snowman needs to be able to smell so use a revolve feature to give him a Carrot nose.
Then add a Dome to the end to round it off.
For the Arms a series of circular sweeps ranging in sizes can be used to create a twig shape.
Reusing the method of creating the eye some buttons can be made.
He is a looking a bit naked so finally a hat can be revolved on his head. Leaving this unresolved will allow for proper hat placement.
There is our finished model, guaranteed to last longer than any built from actual snow.
